Yin Yoga has become one of the most popular styles of yoga today, with many yoga studios now offering yin classes to balance their (yang) programs. Yin is in! Yin yoga has a distinct pace, physiology, and philosophy, as well as unique postures. It is restorative and invigorating; it has a meditative and healing quality; and it is well suited for both beginners as well as advanced practitioners. By passively stretching muscles, yin yoga effectively remolds the fascia and connective tissue, thereby directly improving posture, joint mobility, breathing, athletic performance, recovery from injury, and healthy aging. Even though Yin Yoga as a distinct style emerged in the West only recently, its roots go back to the classical yoga of India and the qigong tradition of ancient China. This workshop immersion introduces the theory and practice of Yin Yoga--for both students and teachers--in order to better understand and embody its profound principles.
