Spring Equinox Community Gathering: FREE Kirtan & Sound Healing Meditation

Spring Equinox Community Gathering: This free community event is an evening devoted to chanting, movement, healing sound, and meditation, creating a space where people can gather in joy and spiritual connection. The evening invites participants to step away from the pace of daily life and enter an atmosphere of celebration, presence, and shared intention as the season shifts toward renewal and light.

The gathering is designed to awaken the heart through music, movement, and stillness. Participants will be guided through a flowing progression of experiences that uplift energy while also inviting deep inner quiet. Each part of the evening complements the next, gradually moving from vibrant expression into peaceful meditation.

As the Spring Equinox symbolizes balance between light and darkness, this event offers a meaningful opportunity to reflect on personal renewal and collective harmony. The practices shared throughout the evening encourage openness, connection, and the joy that arises when a community gathers with a shared purpose. As the evening unfolds, laughter, rhythm, and stillness blend into a shared experience that feels both celebratory and deeply grounding.

Kirtan And The Tradition Of Devotional Chanting: The evening begins with kirtan led by Laughing Lotus community members Ankit & Stephanie Ahuja. Kirtan is a traditional call and response form of chanting sacred mantras, rooted in the Bhakti yoga path, often described as the yoga of devotion and love.

In this practice, a leader sings a mantra and the community responds, creating a rhythmic exchange of sound and intention. The repetition of these sacred syllables gradually draws the mind away from daily worries and toward a state of presence, joy, and openness.

Sound Healing And Deep Relaxation: After the vibrant energy of kirtan, the evening transitions into a deeply calming sound healing experience offered by Natascha. Using singing bowls, soothing tones and vibrations gently wash through the space, inviting the body and mind into relaxation.

The resonance of singing bowls creates subtle waves of sound that can help quiet the nervous system and release accumulated tension. These tones are often experienced not only through hearing but also through sensation, as the vibrations move through the body.

Sound healing naturally prepares the mind for meditation by slowing mental activity and encouraging a peaceful inward focus. As the tones expand and fade, participants often find themselves entering a tranquil state where the mind becomes still and the breath softens.

Yoga Nidra And The Renewal Of Spring: Yoga Nidra, a guided meditation offered by Padma Michelle. Yoga Nidra, often called yogic sleep, is a practice that leads participants into a state of conscious relaxation where the body rests deeply while awareness remains present.

Ending the evening with Yoga Nidra aligns beautifully with the theme of the Spring Equinox. As nature moves into a season of growth and renewal, this final meditation invites participants to plant inner seeds of clarity, balance, and intention.

Come celebrate the Spring Equinox with us and welcome the new season together. Let's gather in community, open our hearts through music and meditation, and bloom together. 🌸✨

                                                                                                                                  YIN YOGA WORKSHOP

Sunday February 15  11am-2pm     $40

 with Scott Farber, Ph.D., E-RYT 500/YACEP

This three hour "masterclass" workshop is an introduction to the principles and practice of Yin Yoga.  It is designed for beginners as well as experienced students and yoga teachers. This increasingly popular style offers an antidote to our fast paced, stressful lifestyle and a counterbalance to our culture's emphasis on "yang" forms of yoga and exercise. Holding postures in a relaxed way for a few minutes allows the body to come into a passive stretch and the mind to drop into stillness. Yin practice improves joint mobility, reshapes the fascia, calms the nervous system, assists recovery from injury, promotes healthy aging and even enhances athletic performance.  A variety of yin postures will be explored (including hip openers, legs-up-the wall, meditative asanas, prone and supine poses, standing yin, restorative poses, etc.), all with optional modifications and variations. We'll experiment with the creative use of various props to relax into the poise of the pose. There will be two complete sadhanas (practice sessions) with a brief discussion of yin philosophy and yin anatomy during the intermission. The workshop will end with a special healing Yoga Nidra Meditation and Sound Bath.
